Data & hosting
How your data is stored and who hosts it — depending on whether you use trackME as an individual or as part of a school pilot.
Individual trials
If you use trackME as an individual teacher (e.g. during the public beta or as a sole user), we host your data.
- Data is stored using Google Firebase/Firestore, with data residency in Melbourne, Australia.
- Our Privacy Policy and Data Retention Policy apply in full.
- We act as the host and processor of your data; you retain your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles.
You can export or delete your data at any time via the app Settings.
School pilots
For school pilots, a different model applies. The consultancy approach prioritises school ownership and control of data.
- Schools retain full ownership of their student information.
- Where possible, data is held in school-hosted or school-controlled environments (e.g. school-managed cloud or local infrastructure), not centrally by the consultant.
- The consultant does not retain copies of school data; systems act as workflow tools rather than central data warehouses.
A detailed Education Technology Consultancy — Data Governance, Privacy and Security Overview document is available for school leadership, IT, and governance. It covers data minimisation, privacy-by-design, hosting options, and roles and responsibilities.
If you are evaluating a school pilot, we can provide this overview on request. Contact us using the details below.
